12 Rank Trackers Compared: AI Overview Tracking and Pricing

Best Rank Tracking Tools

I’m going to do something different with this roundup.

  • Normally you get twelve tools ranked one to twelve and you pick from the top. Not here. This one starts with a gate, and four well-known trackers don’t get through it.

The gate is simple: does the tool tell you whether you appear in Google’s AI Overviews?

If it doesn’t, it’s measuring a version of Google that’s disappearing. AI Overviews now show on 43% of US searches, up from 15% a year ago. When one appears, Pew’s data says clicks to traditional results fall from 15% to 8%.

So a tracker that reports position 3 and nothing else is telling you a true fact that no longer predicts your traffic.

Twelve tools went in. Four failed the gate. Let’s do the failures first, because that’s the useful part.

❌ The Four That Failed

Wincher

Wincher has a good reputation and I’ve recommended it before. Not this year.

It publishes no AI Overview or AI Mode tracking at all. The only AI features are “AI Keyword suggestions” and an “AI Content Outliner” — content-writing helpers, not search-visibility tracking. Those are different products wearing the same two letters.

There’s a second problem. Wincher’s pricing page renders no prices. The figures are injected by JavaScript and never load for a crawler, which means the numbers floating around review sites are stale. G2 lists Basic $49, Standard $89, Professional $319 — but those plan names don’t match the Starter / Professional / Agency tiers on the live site.

Daily updates, Google Maps weekly, keyword floors of 500 / 1,000 / 5,000. That’s what I can confirm. On price, treat it as unpublished and get a quote.

Good tracker for 2023. Not the one I’d start in 2026.

Mangools SERPWatcher

I like Mangools. KWFinder is still the friendliest keyword tool for people who find Semrush overwhelming, and the whole suite is priced for humans rather than enterprises.

But SERPWatcher publishes no AI Overview or AI Mode tracking, and Mangools has no working public pricing URL — /pricing/, /pricing and /plans all 404 or render empty. Third-party sources put Basic at $49/mo ($29.90 annual, 200 keywords), Premium $69 ($44.90, 700), Agency $129 ($89.90, 1,500). The site confirms the 35% annual saving and a 48-hour refund window, so those figures are probably close.

Free plan tracks 10 keywords, which is a genuinely generous way to try it.

Buy Mangools for keyword research if the price suits you. Don’t buy it as your AI-era rank tracker, because it isn’t one.

Rank Math

Rank Math ships an “AI Search Traffic Tracker” on every plan, and I need you to read what that actually is.

It measures traffic arriving from AI tools. It does not tell you whether you appear inside an AI Overview. Those are opposite ends of the same funnel. One is an outcome you can’t influence directly; the other is the thing you’d optimise.

Pricing is PRO €7.99/mo billed annually, Business €24.99, Agency €54.99, all ex-VAT and in euros — so the dollar figure you pay is higher than the number on the page. Keyword limits are generous: 500 / 10,000 / 50,000.

The real killer for me is refresh rate. PRO updates every three days. Business and Agency go daily.

For a WordPress site that wants SEO housekeeping in one plugin, Rank Math is excellent value. As a rank tracker for AI search, it isn’t playing the same sport.

This one hurts, because I’ve paid Ahrefs for years.

Ahrefs Rank Tracker does list AI Overviews among the “19 SERP features” it tracks, so it half-passes. But two things push it into the fail column for me.

  1. It refreshes weekly. Every other tool in this article does daily, several do twice daily, and Ahrefs does weekly on plans from $129/mo (Lite, 750 keywords) up to $1,499 (Enterprise, 10,000+). In a market where AI Overviews change composition constantly, weekly is a snapshot of last Tuesday.
  2. Real AI-answer tracking is a separate product. Brand Radar starts at $199/mo on top of your base subscription, and the entry tier tracks five AI prompts. Custom prompt packs run $50–$250/mo with overage billing.

So the honest Ahrefs number for daily-ish AI visibility is $129 + $199 = $328/month, and you still only get weekly rank refreshes. I couldn’t make that maths work for a single client, let alone nine.

✅ The Eight That Passed

Now the tools that actually do the job. I’ve ordered these by who they’re for, not by a score, because a 20,000-keyword agency plan and a 500-keyword freelancer plan aren’t competing.

1. Keyword.com — the best AI coverage per dollar, by a distance

Keyword.com
  • Search Visibility from $3/mo annual
  • 360° Visibility from $26/mo annual
  • AI Visibility standalone from $7.83/mo annual
  • Custom from $490/mo

I did a double-take at these numbers and then went and checked the billing page myself.

$3 a month. That’s the Search Visibility tier, annual, and it covers 50 to 500 keywords depending on which sub-tier you pick — all at the same $3. Weekly or daily updates.

The AI coverage is the widest in this entire article: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek, Copilot and Claude. Nine engines. Nobody else on this list touches Mistral or DeepSeek at a normal price point.

The catch, and it’s important: the $3 tier has zero AI tracking.

AI coverage starts on the 360° plan at $26/mo annual — 1,000 keywords plus 15 AI credits, scaling to 10,000 keywords and 250 credits. There’s also a standalone AI Visibility plan from $7.83/mo annual if you only want the AI half.

Free trial is 14 days, 100 keywords, 20 AI credits, no card.

If you’re price-sensitive and you want AI tracking, this is where I’d send you first. I’ve moved two of my smaller properties onto it.

2. Nightwatch — the one I’d hand an agency

Nightwatch
  • Starter €79
  • Professional €159
  • Agency €399
  • Enterprise custom (per month, in euros)

Nightwatch does the thing I wish everyone did: AI tracking on every single tier, not gated behind an upsell.

Every plan covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode and AI Overview. The allowances scale sensibly — 50 / 150 / 500 / unlimited AI prompts, and 1,500 / 4,500 / 15,000 / custom AI answers a month. Keywords run 500 / 2,500 / 7,500 / 20,000+.

Daily updates plus real-time on-demand checks, and three years of SERP history, which is the longest lookback I found. That history matters more than people realise — when a client asks “when did this start,” you want an answer that isn’t a shrug.

Note the currency. These are euros, not dollars, so budget roughly 8–10% higher than the number looks.

  • For an agency running 10–40 client sites, Nightwatch Agency at €399 is the most complete package here. It’s what I’d buy if I were rebuilding AFFiNCO’s reporting stack from scratch today.

3. Semrush — AI tracking bundled, no separate SKU

Semrush homepage — SEO platform with MCP access
  • SEO $139/mo ($117.33 annual)
  • Starter $199 ($165.17)
  • Pro+ $299 ($248.17)
  • Advanced $549 ($455.67)

Semrush quietly did the right thing here and it deserves credit. LLM prompt tracking is bundled into Position Tracking. There’s no separate AI Toolkit SKU to buy if you’re on a paid plan.

Position Tracking covers daily ranking changes across search engines, devices, locations and AI Overviews natively. Prompt allowances run 50/day on Starter, 100 on Pro+, 200 on Advanced, across Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Keyword limits are 500 / 500 / 1,500 / 5,000.

Watch the add-on ladder. This is where Semrush bills get strange: Additional Users $45/mo each, Lead Generation $90/mo, Base Report $10/mo, Pro Report $20/mo. A three-seat agency setup adds $90 before anyone runs a report.

This is what’s running on AFFiNCO’s own domains, and the reason is boring. The AI data sits next to the ranking data, in the tool my team already knows.

Integration beats best-in-class more often than tool reviewers admit.

4. ProRankTracker — most AI platforms, and a counting trick you must know

ProRankTracker
  • Starter $99/mo ($89 annual, 1,000 terms)
  • Pro $149 ($134, 2,000)
  • Agency $199–$1,039 (3,000–20,000 terms)

ProRankTracker tracks six AI platforms — Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot — checked daily. That’s the deepest AI-platform list among the classic rank trackers.

Now the trick, and please read this before you buy. AI prompts burn two Terms each.

A “Term” is one keyword plus URL plus engine plus location plus device. So a 1,000-Term Starter plan is 1,000 organic keywords, or 500 AI prompts, or some split. It is not both.

There’s a parallel AI plan ladder at the same prices — Starter $99 for 500 prompts/day, Pro $149 for 1,000, Agency $199–$1,039 for 1,500–10,000+.

Free tier gives 100 terms for 7 days.

If your reporting genuinely needs Copilot alongside the big four, this is one of the only places to get it without enterprise pricing. Just build your budget on Terms, not on the plan name.

5. AccuRanker — fastest data, most expensive question mark

AccuRanker
  • Professional $224/mo
  • Expert $764/mo
  • Enterprise custom. 10% off annual.

AccuRanker has always sold speed, and it still does. Daily updates, enhanced refresh on Enterprise, 2,000–5,000 keywords on Professional, 10,000–25,000 on Expert.

The AI product is AccuLLM, and it’s the only tool here that tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overview and AI Mode as a dedicated module. Genuinely strong.

Two things stop me recommending it broadly. AccuLLM’s price is not published. It’s demo-and-quote only, which in 2026 tells you the answer is “a lot.”

The headline plan prices are also slider entry points. $224 buys the 2,000-keyword floor of Professional, not the 5,000 ceiling.

Also worth knowing: the “AI CTR” and “AI Search Volume” features listed on base plans are not AI Overview tracking. Different things, similar names.

Enterprise-grade tool at enterprise-grade friction. If you have a procurement department, fine. If you’re a solo operator, the demo call isn’t worth your afternoon.

6. Advanced Web Ranking — the volume play

Advanced Web Ranking
  • Pro $139/mo (7,000 kw)
  • Agency $279 (14,500)
  • Enterprise $699 (35,500)
  • Enterprise Plus $980 (50,000)

AWR is the keyword-volume champion. Seven thousand keywords for $139 is roughly fourteen times what Semrush’s $139 tier gives you.

AI Visibility tracking and AI Citations and Mentions are included from Pro upward — not an add-on, not an upsell. The company has repositioned itself around “next-gen AI search tracking” and the feature set backs it up.

Update flexibility is the other draw: daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, with 1-hour on-demand refreshes from Agency up and custom schedules on Enterprise. Ten percent off annual, 30-day money-back.

If you run programmatic or large-catalogue SEO where keyword count is the binding constraint, AWR wins on raw maths and it isn’t close. For a 200-keyword brand site, you’d be paying for capacity you’ll never touch.

7. SE Ranking — good tool, annoying gate

SE Ranking
  • Core $129/mo ($103.20 annual)
  • Growth $279 ($223.20)
  • Enterprise custom
  • Agency Pack add-on $69/mo

SE Ranking is a genuinely nice product. Core gives 2,000 keywords plus 100 prompts tracked daily; Growth gives 5,000 keywords plus 250 prompts. Daily position monitoring across the top 100 results.

The rank tracker page promises you’ll “see how your site shows up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews,” and that’s true at a basic level.

But the full AI Results Tracker sits inside the $69/mo Agency Pack — AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT. And that pack is annual-billing only.

You cannot buy it month to month. Testing it properly means committing to a year.

That’s a product decision I’d push back on if I were their customer, and I’m saying so publicly. Excellent software, gate in the wrong place.

8. Sitechecker — twice-daily refresh at the top end

Sitechecker
  • Basic $99/mo ($83 annual)
  • Standard $249 ($208)
  • Premium $449 ($375)
  • Enterprise custom

Sitechecker includes prompt tracking on every tier, which puts it firmly in the passing group. Allowances run 100 keywords plus 50 prompts on Basic, 1,500 plus 150 on Standard, 5,000 plus 250 on Premium, unlimited on Enterprise.

Refresh rate is the differentiator and it’s unusual. Basic updates weekly. Standard goes daily. Premium and Enterprise refresh every 12 hours.

Twice-daily is faster than anything else here except AccuRanker’s enhanced tier.

One practical note that cost me ten minutes: the pricing lives at sitechecker.pro/account/plans/, not at /pricing/. Their own navigation doesn’t take you there cleanly.

Weekly updates at $99 is poor value, so skip Basic. Standard at $249 daily is where this tool becomes interesting.

What I’d Actually Buy

Three recommendations, no hedging.

  • Freelancer or one site: Keyword.com 360° at $26/mo annual. Nine AI engines and 1,000 keywords for less than a team lunch.
  • Agency, 10–40 clients: Nightwatch Agency at €399. AI on every tier, three years of history, and no add-on games.
  • Already in an SEO suite: stay there. Semrush bundles AI prompt tracking into Position Tracking with no extra SKU, and integration is worth more than a slightly better standalone.
  • And if you need enormous keyword volume: AWR Pro at $139 for 7,000 keywords, with AI tracking included. Nothing else comes close on that ratio.

Who Should Skip Rank Tracking Entirely

I turn readers away in every roundup. Here’s this one’s list.

  • Skip it if you track under 50 keywords. Google Search Console is free and gives you real impression data instead of simulated positions. Buy a tracker when you need daily granularity or client reporting, not before.
  • Skip the cheap tier of an expensive tool. Ahrefs Lite at weekly refresh and Sitechecker Basic at weekly refresh are both worse than Keyword.com at $26. Tier shape beats brand name every time.
  • Skip it if nobody reads the report. I’ve seen agencies pay $400/month for dashboards that get opened once a quarter. That’s not a tool problem.

Two Questions Worth Answering

Do I still need rank tracking if AI Overviews are eating clicks?

Yes, but reframed. Rankings still feed AI Overviews — 52% of AI Overview citations come from top-10 results. You’re not tracking position for traffic any more. You’re tracking it as an input to citation.

Daily or weekly updates — does it really matter?

For a stable brand site, weekly is fine. For anything competitive, or anything where AI Overview composition shifts, daily is the minimum. That single criterion is why Ahrefs lost this roundup despite being the better all-round tool.

The Move

Run the gate yourself. Open your current tracker and look for AI Overviews.

If it isn’t there, you’re reporting on a search engine that’s being replaced. Switch this month, not next quarter.
